amy + david // anderson lake portrait session

The first time I met Carlyn (the favorite daughter in this Anderson Lake family portrait session), she was so quiet and reserved. I was the newbie small group leader at our high school youth group at Morgan Hill Bible Church and Carlyn was the regular attender who was skeptical of this weirdo with pink glasses and one really bad (I think it's good) dad joke. After a few weeks, she warmed up to me and I stuck with her for two more years.

When her mom called me to tell me they were moving back to Phoenix, AZ, my heart sank. That meant saying goodbye to my sweet teenage friend and having to watch her grow up through the instas. So of course, to celebrate them as a family, moving and growing forward in whatever God is working for them, we commissioned them off with this family portrait session. All four of them showed up in perfect pairings with that gorgeous salmon color next to navy blue. Such a beautiful combination! And sweet little Carlyn (not so little anymore) smiled big and bright for me.

I miss them. They've been gone for just over a year now living out in the HEAT (I don't get it, Arizona, why?) and our church just isn't the same without them. I miss that pretty face of Carlyn's smiling big when we would see each other at youth group and hearing her heart when we'd have deep conversations. So I look back at our Anderson Lake family portrait session often to remind myself of the joy and love this entire family shares with everyone and I know they are in the right place.

Love and miss you guys, Littler family. Check out some of my favorites from their Anderson Lake river field family portrait session!

Love,
Angela
